Manipur Class 12 results declared, 88.6% students pass

Manipur Education Minister Thounaojam Basantkumar Singh along with officials of the Education Department declared the results of class 12 examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) on Monday. The result is available on manresults.nic.in.

The overall pass percentage this year is 88.68%, with Tengnoupal district performing best with 99.9 per cent, followed by Noney with 98.74 per cent. Ukhrul district recorded the lowest pass percentage of 67.03 per cent. The overall pass percentage in 2022 was 90.09.

The overall pass percentage of government higher secondary schools is 84.34 percent, while the pass percentage of non-government schools is 90.0 percent. In government and non-government higher secondary schools, girl students have outperformed boys.

A total of 36,717 students appeared in the Class 12 examination conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur. In the science stream, Ri Thokchom from Heritage Convent in Imphal topped the exam with a total of 491 marks.

Rajbrinda Norem of TG Higher Secondary School topped the commerce stream with 445 marks and Pushpa Norem of TG Higher Secondary School topped the Arts stream with a total of 475 marks.

Officially announcing the results at the COHSEM office in Imphal this afternoon, Education Minister Basantkumar Singh lauded the efforts of the teachers and officials for the smooth and successful conduct of the examination.

When asked about the good performance of government school students this year in contrast to last year, the minister said that the credit for this achievement goes to the hard work of the teaching fraternity and the government’s initiative – School Phagathansi Mission and the hard work of the students. To encourage the failed students, the minister also appealed them to work hard to succeed in the upcoming examinations.

Responding to another question, he said that the government is also planning to extend the ongoing summer vacation in academic schools for a few more weeks considering the situation in the state. Earlier, the government had declared summer vacation till May 31, 2023.

Council officials led by Commissioner (Education) H Gyan Prakash, Director (Education-School) L Nandakumar, COHSEM President T Ojit Singh Singh were also present during the announcement of the results.
