NTA had conducted JEE (Main) 2023 Paper-I exam on April 11, 2023, afternoon session on the fourth day. Questions were asked from almost all the chapters of Class XI and XII of CBSE Board. It was a balanced paper.

The paper had three parts and each part had two sections:

Part-I-Physics had total 30 questions – Section-I had 20 multiple choice questions with single correct answer and Section-II had 10 numerical based questions out of which only 5 were to be attempted. The marking scheme for multiple choice questions was +4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response, 0 for not attempted. The marking scheme for numerical based questions was +4 for correct response and 0 in all other cases. The total marks of this section were 100.

Difficulty level as per the feedback received from the students on 11th April, 2023 (Afternoon Session).

Mathematics – Intermediate level. Weightage was given to the chapters of Conic section and Calculus. Questions asked from Parabola, Ellipse Hyperbola and Circle, Definite Integrals, Limits and Continuity, Area under Curves, Matrices, Vectors, 3D Geometry. Also some good questions from Binomial Theorem and Permutation and Combination. Both MCQ and numerical based questions require lengthy calculations. According to some students this section was also difficult.

Physics – Easy to Moderate level. Weightage has been given to the chapters on Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Rotational Motion, Work, Power and Energy, Heat and Thermodynamics, SHM and Waves, Current Electricity, Magnetism, Ray Optics, Gravitation and Modern Physics. The numerical based questions were rated as easy to moderate. This section was balanced.

Chemistry – Easy Level. Inorganic and Organic Chemistry were asked equally and had more questions than Physical Chemistry. Numerical section had questions from chapters like Chemical Kinetics, Electrochemistry. Organic Chemistry had mixed concept questions from Alcohols, Ethers and Phenols, Aryl and Alkyl Halides. In Inorganic Chemistry, there were questions from s-block, p-block, chemical bonding, co-ordination compounds and metallurgy.
